As two of the entertainment world's
most flamboyant personalities, the love lives of ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell
and former Take That boy Robbie Williams are rarely out of the headlines.
But last week, as the singers headed off together for a holiday in chic St
Tropez, the speculation turned to whether the pair were enjoying another very
public romance - this time with each other. Both Geri and Robbie are signed to
the same record label, EMI, and their spokespersons have emphatically denied
that there is anything more than friendship between the pair.
But their personal acquaintances reportedly say otherwise. "It's
love," said a friend of Robbie. "He's been saying he thinks he's
fallen in love with Geri." Meanwhile, one of her friends was quoted as
saying, "She has fallen head over heels for him and it is a mutual
thing."
Cynics might suggest, however, that the timing of the singers' St Tropez visit
is a little too convenient.
Robbie is Geri's first "romance" since she was linked with Chris
Evans late last year - when the resulting publicity coincided with the release
of her single Lift Me Up. And now her biography, If Only, is
about to be published in paperback. Robbie, too, is currently looking to top
the charts with his new single, Rock DJ.
Of course, all this could be a way for Robbie to keep up with his
ex-fiancée, All Saints' Nicole Appleton, who has apparently fallen in
love with the singer's nemesis, Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher: Or perhaps Geri
is hoping to keep up with her ex-colleagues, as Mel C, aka Sporty Spice,
briefly dated Robbie. Or perhaps it really is love. |
