As a mother of four, Queen Rania is accustomed to celebrating Mother's Day, but this year marked her first time as a grandmother! Crown Prince Hussein commemorated the holiday in Jordan on Friday, March 21, with a photo of his mom holding his daughter Princess Iman as he looked on. The Crown Prince also shared a picture of his wife Princess Rajwa, who was celebrating her first Mother's Day, cradling their baby girl.

"‏To my beloved mother and my loving wife, your presence fills our lives with joy, and your love is the true meaning of giving. Happy Mother’s Day," Hussein captioned the post.

Queen Rania became a first-time grandparent last August with the birth of her son Hussein and his wife Rajwa's daughter, Princess Iman. Following the arrival of her first grandchild, the proud grandmother wrote on X (translated to English), "Praise be to God for His greatest gifts... You have enlightened our lives with our precious granddaughter, Iman. May God protect us from you. Congratulations to Hussein and Rajwa, and may God fill your lives with blessings and contentment."

On the day Iman was born, Rania also posted photos of her newborn granddaughter on Instagram, writing: "Iman, you’ve already got a hold of my heart. Our family has never been happier! ♥️." The doting grandmother has since shared pictures and video footage of Iman, including a snapshot of her granddaughter's "first Zoom board meeting."

The Queen and King Abdullah II's second grandchild arrived last month. Her Majesty's older daughter Princess Iman and her husband Jameel Alexander Thermiotis welcomed their daughter Amina on Feb. 16 at the Prince Hashem bin Abdullah II Hospital in Aqaba. "My darling Iman is now a mother. We’re grateful and overjoyed to meet Amina, our family’s newest blessing," the Queen penned alongside photos of the royal family's newest addition. "Congratulations Jameel and Iman – may God bless you and your precious little girl."

Two years before becoming a grandmother, Rania spoke about her desire to be a "fun grandma." During a 2022 appearance on Good Morning America, the Queen admitted, “I used to always say my favorite title is mama, but I think that’s going to quickly change” to the “Arabic word for grandma.”

“My goal is to be like fun grandma,” Rania added. “We have a saying in Arabic that no person is dearer to us more than our children than our grandchildren. So I’m really excited to have babies in my life soon.”
