Queen Rania of Jordan is one proud grandmother. Her Majesty was in grandparent mode, proudly showing off a photo of her granddaughter Princess Iman while at a family gathering to celebrate Ramadan. In a video shared on her personal Instagram, the Queen was filmed handing a phone to someone that had a photo of 7-month-old Princess Iman adorably sitting on the screen.
Iman's parents, Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa, were also at the gathering with members of the Jordanian royal family. Alongside the video, the Queen wrote: "There’s no greater blessing than being surrounded by family. Ramadan Kareem to you and your loved ones."
Rania also penned, translated to English, "One of the most beautiful blessings is the family gathering in love and harmony. Happy Ramadan to you and your loved ones."
The Queen's younger daughter Princess Salma was featured in the video, as was King Abdullah II. Not seen were Her Majesty's younger son Prince Hashem, who began his college studies in 2023, and her older daughter Princess Iman.
Iman, 28, and her husband Jameel Alexander Thermiotis welcomed their first child, daughter Amina, on Feb. 16 at the Prince Hashem bin Abdullah II Hospital in Aqaba. At the time, Rania congratulated her daughter and son-in-law on the birth of their baby girl, writing on Instagram: "My darling Iman is now a mother. We’re grateful and overjoyed to meet Amina, our family’s newest blessing. Congratulations Jameel and Iman – may God bless you and your precious little girl."
King Abdullah also celebrated his granddaughter's arrival, writing on X (translated to English), "I congratulate my dear Iman and dear Jameel on the birth of their daughter, Amina. We thank God for His countless blessings, and we ask Him to protect her and make her one of the righteous," adding, "God bless you, Grandpa."
Following the birth of his niece Amina, Crown Prince Hussein took to his Instagram to share photos of his baby girl Iman meeting her newborn cousin. He captioned the sweet photos: "Welcome to the family, Amina! May you be a source of joy for your parents and a loving sister and lifelong companion to my daughter."
Amina is the King and Queen of Jordan's second grandchild. Their first, Princess Iman, was born last August. Rania spoke about her desire to one day be a "fun grandma" back in 2022. During an appearance on Good Morning America, the Queen said, “I used to always say my favorite title is mama, but I think that’s going to quickly change,”
“My goal is to be like fun grandma,” Rania continued. “We have a saying in Arabic that no person is dearer to us more than our children than our grandchildren. So I’m really excited to have babies in my life soon.”
