The Prince and Princess of Wales traveled to Wales ahead of St. David’s Day. During their visit to Pontypridd on Wednesday, the royal couple spent time with local community members and heard from individuals who were affected by the severe flooding in December.
Prince William and Catherine kicked off their visit to South Wales at Pontypridd Market. The heir to the throne and his wife donned aprons as they tried their hand at making Welsh cakes at the Welsh Cake Shop.
Looking at her husband's cakes, the Princess said, "Those are so good. How did you do that?" William replied, "Well I don't know, my stunning bakery skills, Mary Berry taught me everything I need to know."
After cutting their dough, the Prince of Wales joked, "You'll have to sell these at half price."
Alongside photos of the couple laughing at the cake shop, the Waleses' X account wrote, "Anyone for Welsh Cakes? A pleasure to be back in Wales, in the lead up to St David’s Day this weekend! Thank you to lovely people of Pontypridd for the warm welcome 🏴🌼."
While in Pontypridd, the royal couple also visited the Meadow Street Community Garden and Woodland. The trip on Feb. 26 marked William and Catherine's first official joint trip to Wales since October 2023, and their second joint appearance of 2025. The Prince and Princess were out together last month to mark Holocaust Memorial Day and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
Catherine looked radiant in red on Wednesday, rewearing a double-breasted Alexander McQueen coat—seemingly as a tribute to the Welsh flag. The royal mom of three wore the stylish outerwear over a turtleneck and pleated tartan midi skirt. Both the Prince and Princess sported yellow daffodils, which is "considered the national flower of Wales," per Wales.com.
The royal couple and their kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, reportedly enjoyed a getaway to the private island of Mustique during their children's recent break from Lambrook School.
Catherine, who announced last September that she had completed her chemotherapy treatment, revealed last month that she is in remission. In a personal message following her first public appearance of the year, Her Royal Highness shared: "It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support."
