Meet Princess Ines! The name of Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip of Sweden's newborn daughter was revealed on Monday—three days after her birth. The royal couple named their fourth child Princess Ines Marie Lilian Silvia.

The pair seemingly honored their respective mothers with two of their baby girl's middle names: Sofia's mother's name is Marie Hellqvist, while Carl Philip's mother is Queen Silvia.

Carl Philip's father, King Carl XVI Gustaf, informed the government of his granddaughter's name at a Council of State held on Monday at the Royal Palace. The baby Princess, who is eighth in line to the Swedish throne, has been granted the Duchy of Västerbotten.

Like her older brothers, Prince Alexander, 8, Prince Gabriel, 7, and Prince Julian, 3, Ines is a member of the royal family but not of the royal house, and therefore will not "enjoy the style of Royal Highness."

The Swedish Royal Court released the first photo of Princess Ines on Monday. The sweet image, taken by mom Princess Sofia, showed the little Princess sweetly sleeping.

The Prince Couple welcomed their daughter on Friday, Feb. 7, at Stockholm's Danderyd Hospital. The Office of the Marshal of the Realm announced the baby's arrival with a statement, which read (translated to English): "The Office of the Marshal of the Realm is pleased to announce that HRH Princess Sofia, on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 1:10 p.m., gave birth to a healthy and prosperous daughter at Danderyd Hospital."

Carl Philip expressed his and Sofia's happiness following the birth of their first daughter. "We are happy to welcome our newborn daughter into the world," the dad of four said (translated to English). "The big brothers are now looking forward to getting to know their new little sister."

It was revealed in September that Sofia and Carl Philip were expecting their fourth child. Months later, the Princess told Vogue Scandinavia that she "always, always, always dreamt of a family." Sofia said, "It’s one of my biggest goals in life. Not everyone has that – I had that."

“Both me and my husband come from a family of five – with three kids – so we thought that that would be a good number, and we felt quite satisfied with that," she added. "But, gratefully, there’s a bonus on the way. We feel very humble and grateful. It was maybe not in the plan, but now we are very, very excited. Especially the kids.”
