It's a girl! Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden have welcomed their first daughter. The royal baby was born on Friday, Feb. 7, at Stockholm's Danderyd Hospital. Following the birth of his baby girl, proud dad Carl Philip said (translated to English), "We are happy to welcome our newborn daughter into the world. The big brothers are now looking forward to getting to know their new little sister."

The baby, whose name has not yet been revealed, joins big brothers Prince Alexander, 8, Prince Gabriel, 7, and Prince Julian, 3. It was revealed in September that Sofia and Carl Philip were expecting their fourth child

Sofia admitted to Vogue Scandinavia for the magazine's December 2024/January 2025 issue that she "always, always, always dreamt of a family." She shared, "It’s one of my biggest goals in life. Not everyone has that – I had that."

“Both me and my husband come from a family of five – with three kids – so we thought that that would be a good number, and we felt quite satisfied with that," Sofia continued. "But, gratefully, there’s a bonus on the way. We feel very humble and grateful. It was maybe not in the plan, but now we are very, very excited. Especially the kids.”

The Swedish Princess also told Vogue Scandinavia that she's "very grateful" for her family and that still has "dreams for the future.” She said, "I still have a lot of things I want to learn, I want to have new experiences and do new projects and of course go through life with my kids and the stages they are in."

"I have a life that I’m very grateful for, I have a family that I’m very grateful for,” the Princess added. “I actually feel I’m in the best place I’ve ever been in life."

The Prince Couple's children are members of the Swedish royal family, but not the royal house. In 2019, Carl Philip's father King Carl XVI Gustaf removed his and Princess Madeleine's respective children from the royal house. At the time, Sofia and Carl Philip said (translated to English): "We see this as positive as Alexander and Gabriel will have freer choices in life. They will retain their prince titles and their duchies, Södermanland and Dalarna, which we value and are proud of. Our family has strong connections to both landscapes and we maintain our commitment there. We will continue to focus on our heart issues and commitment. We will also continue to support the King and the Crown Princess - our future head of state - and participate in the King's activities in the way we wish.”
