The reason Meghan Markle requested to delay her latest project

It has a new premiere date

JANUARY 13, 2025 1:42 PM EST

Meghan Markle's new Netflix series has been delayed. With Love, Meghan, which "reimagines the genre of lifestyle programming, blending practical how-to’s and candid conversation with friends, new and old," will no longer premiere on Jan. 15 as originally scheduled. Instead, the series will now debut on March 4.

"At the request of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and with the full support of Netflix, the release of the show — a heartfelt tribute to the beauty of Southern California — has been moved from its previously announced January premiere date to March 4, due to the ongoing devastation caused by the Los Angeles wildfires," Netflix announced on Jan. 12.

In a statement, the Duchess of Sussex said: "I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California."

Meghan and Harry stepped out in Pasadena last Friday. Victor Gordo, Mayor of Pasadena, told FOX 11 Los Angeles, "For them to come out here and meet with the first responders, meet with the people who are affected, is very important. They really buoyed the spirits of the first responders. We visited the command post at the Rose Bowl and people were very happy to see them."

The mayor said that "they want to be as helpful as they can be and, you know, really they just wanted to be supportive. We visited with some of the affected families in some of the burned out areas in Pasadena and Altadena. They took the time to meet the people that are affected and spent time." He went on to describe the royal couple as "just very caring people who are very concerned for their friends and neighbors.”

The mayor also revealed that it was "their second visit" of the day. "We were here earlier today, and they were serving food anonymously. No one knew they were serving food," he shared, noting Meghan and Harry were wearing masks.

He added, "They didn’t come out here for publicity, they came out here to work. And then we went to visit some of the families in the impacted area and viewed firsthand some of the impacted area. And then they wanted to go visit the first responders and personally thank them for their efforts to help our families and our neighbors."
