King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium have been married for 25 years! The royal couple celebrated their silver anniversary on Dec. 4. In honor of the special occasion, the Belgian Royal Palace released two new photos of the King, 64, and Queen, 51, looking every bit in love.
Her Majesty was all smiles as she and her husband strolled hand in hand in the pictures. Alongside the images, the palace wrote on Instagram (translated to English): "🩶 The King and Queen celebrate their silver wedding anniversary today. 25 years of happy marriage and counting! 🖤💛❤️."
The Queen was dressed in a previously worn white jumpsuit from Natan Couture. The Belgian designer was also behind the royal's wedding dress 25 years ago. Mathilde, who is the daughter of Count and Countess Patrick d'Udekem d'Acoz, married King Albert II and Queen Paola's eldest child on Dec. 4, 1999. The Queen's dress for her big day featured a tall collar and long sleeves.
Edouard Vermeulen, who is the founder of Natan Couture, has previously told Magnifissance magazine, “The wedding dress of Queen Mathilde of Belgium — the combination of effort, time, excitement for the special day, and afterwards, the gratitude, made the piece very precious to me."
Since their royal wedding, Mathilde and Philippe have welcomed four children. Their first child, Princess Elisabeth, who is first in line to the Belgian throne, was born in 2001, followed by their second child, Prince Gabriel, in 2003, their third child, Prince Emmanuel, in 2005 and their fourth child, Princess Eléonore, in 2008.
Philippe and Mathilde became the King and Queen of Belgium on July 21, 2013, following the abdication of King Albert II. The couple's 25th wedding anniversary on Wednesday coincided with the Sultan of Oman's state visit to Belgium. Mathilde also attended the fifth edition of the European Health Summit at Egmont Palace on Dec. 4.
