Royal cover star! Princess and her family pose for Vogue Scandinavia

Princess Sofia of Sweden is Vogue Scandinavia’s new cover star. For the magazine's December/January issue, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia's daughter-in-law, who turns 40 on Dec. 6, spoke with the magazine for a cover story set against the backdrop of her childhood village, Älvdalen, and the Royal Palace of Stockholm.

The 40-page feature includes stunning stunning solo shots of Sofia taken by Hasse Nielsen, as well as pictures of the Princess with her husband Prince Carl Philip and their three sons: Prince Alexander, Prince Gabriel and Prince Julian.

According to Martina Bonnier, the editor-in-chief of Vogue Scandinavia, the shoot "lasted three days, two days in her home town Älvdalen in beautiful Dalarna and one day at the Royal Palace in Stockholm together with her family."

During her interview with the magazine, Sofia recalled meeting Prince Carl Philip, whom she married in 2015.

"He looked very humble, " the Princess said. "He had those big, brown, very, very kind eyes."

The royal couple's three sons, Prince Alexander, Prince Gabriel and Prince Julian, posed for a family photo. Prince Carl Philip told the magazine, "Sofia radiates a warmth that spreads throughout the home."

It was revealed in September that Sofia and Carl Philip are expecting their fourth child.

Per Vogue Scandinavia, Sofia honored Älvdalen, her childhood village, by wearing "the traditional folkloric costume, inherited from the Princess’ great aunt Ann-Marie, and a hand-embroidered hat crafted by her grandmother Britt."
