The Princess of Wales looked beautiful in burgundy as she stepped out to welcome The Amir of the State of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani. Catherine joined her husband, Prince William, and father-in-law, King Charles, at the ceremonial welcome at Horse Guards on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
The Princess was dressed head-to-toe in burgundy for the public appearance, wearing a coat by Alexander McQueen and a drop beret with a bow by Sahar Millinery. Catherine completed her sophisticated ensemble with burgundy heeled boots, a matching Chanel bag and a pearl strand necklace that belong to her late grandmother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth. The royal's outfit was seemingly an homage to the colors of the flag of Qatar, which are white and maroon.
The Prince and Princess of Wales traveled back to Buckingham Palace in a carriage procession on Tuesday, riding in the Australian State Coach. Following a private lunch at the palace, William, Catherine, King Charles and Queen Camilla along with The Amir and Sheikha Jawaher viewed a special exhibition of Qatari items from the Royal Collection in the Picture Gallery at Buckingham Palace.
The Princess of Wales' outing came three days before her fourth "Together at Christmas" carol service. Catherine is hosting her annual holiday event at Westminster Abbey on Friday, Dec. 6. Guests at the carol service will include 1,600 individuals who have supported others in their communities, as well as members of the royal family.
The theme of this year's service is said to take inspiration from the Christmas story. Kensington Palace has shared that the 2024 service will provide "a moment to reflect upon the importance of love and empathy, and how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives," and will "shine a light on individuals from all over the UK who have shown love, kindness and empathy towards others in their communities."
According to the palace, the Princess of Wales, who announced in September that she had completed her chemotherapy treatment, wanted to celebrate this year "the many people supporting those in need – individuals who have inspired, counselled, comforted, and above all else shown that love is the greatest gift we can receive."
