Nature called during the Dutch royal family’s recent photo shoot! King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands’ dog Mambo hilariously went to the bathroom as Their Majesties and their three daughters posed for their annual winter photo session on Nov. 29.
The moment caught on camera, prompted funny reactions from the royals. His Majesty was photographed laughing, while Princess Catharina-Amalia put a hand to her face and Princess Alexia looked over her shoulder as their four-legged family member relieved himself at a nearby tree. Royal watchers were first introduced to Mambo in 2021. “Meet Mambo, the newest member of the Royal Family!” the Dutch Royal House wrote on World Animal Day that year.
Mambo has previously joined his family for summer and winter photo sessions. The latest session took place in Amsterdam because "of the celebration of the 750th anniversary of the city,” according to the Dutch Royal House.
AD reported that as the King posed with Mambo on Nov. 29, he said (translated to English), "Now a photo with the men of the family." Images featuring Mambo were included in a carousel of photos shared by the Dutch Royal House's Instagram. "Beautiful family and little Mambo steals the show ❤️," one Instagram user commented on the post (translated to English),
The recent photo session was a reunion for the Dutch royal family. The King and Queen’s three daughters, two of whom study out of the Netherlands, came together for the shoot at Het Begijnhof.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima's youngest daughter, Princess Ariane, studies at UWC Adriatic in Italy, and their second child, Princess Alexia is a student at University College London in the UK. Meanwhile, the King and Queen’s eldest child, Princess Catharina-Amalia, who is first in line to the Dutch throne, is studying politics, psychology, law and economics (PPLE) at the University of Amsterdam.
