A new series executive produced by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is heading to Netflix. The five-episode documentary series titled Polo is set to premiere on Dec. 10. The streamer announced the release date on Nov. 21 and debuted a trailer for the forthcoming series.
"Polo is not just a sport. Polo is a lifestyle. We eat, we breathe, we sleep polo," Nacho Figueras, who is Harry's longtime friend and a polo player featured in the docuseries, says in the trailer. Nacho served as a consulting producer on the Netflix sports series.
In a statement, the Duke of Sussex said, “This series offers audiences an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look into the passion and determination driving some of the world’s elite Polo players, revealing the grit behind the glamour. We’re proud to showcase the true depth and spirit of the sport—and the intensity of its high-stakes moments.”
In addition to Nacho, the upcoming Netflix series will feature athletes Adolfo Cambiaso, Poroto Cambiaso, Louis Devaleix, Timmy Dutta and Keko Magrini.
"Over five episodes, the documentary series follows elite global players on and off the field as they compete in the high-stakes U.S. Open Polo Championship in Wellington, Florida," according to Netflix. "Through fierce rivalries and intense training, viewers will get an unprecedented glimpse into the dedication and skill required to compete at the sport’s highest level. From a young player pushed to his limits by his demanding father, to a former golfer who's made significant sacrifices for the love of the sport, to the father-son duo widely regarded as the greatest players of all time – they all face intense personal and professional challenges as they vie for the coveted title."
Back in April, Archewell Productions, founded by Meghan and Harry in 2020, announced two new nonfiction Netflix series, one of which is Polo. The other is a series curated by the Duchess of Sussex that will celebrate the joys of cooking & gardening, entertaining and friendship.
