Cape Town, South Africa will host the Earthshot Prize Awards this year. Hannah Jones, CEO of the Earthshot Prize, has previously said: “We’re delighted to be working with changemakers and partners across Africa to spotlight the incredible innovation emerging across the continent, to convene courageous conversations about scale and finance, and to partner with young creators and filmmakers to tell the story of changemakers across Africa.”

The fourth cohort of finalists were unveiled at the 2024 Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit held at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. The 2024 finalists are:

• For The Earthshot Prize to Protect And Restore Nature: Amazon Sacred Headwaters Alliance (Ecuador); NatureMetrics (UK) and Altyn Dala Conservation Initiative (Kazakhstan).
• For The Earthshot Prize to Clean Our Air: Gayo (Ghana); d.light (Pan-Africa); and MYCL (Indonesia).
• For The Earthshot Prize to Revive Our Oceans: High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People; MiAlgae (UK); and Coast 4C (Philippines).
• For The Earthshot Prize to Build A Waste-Free World: Natural Fiber Welding (USA); Ferment’Up (France); and Keep It Cool (Kenya).
• For The Earthshot Prize to Fix Our Climate: Equatic (USA); Advanced Thermovoltaic Systems (USA); and Build Up (Nepal).

Who is hosting the 2024 Earthshot Prize Awards?

The 2024 ceremony will be hosted by Billy Porter and Bonang Matheba. "It’s an honor to co-host this year’s Earthshot Prize Awards and help to celebrate this year’s inspiring innovators working to create a better future for everyone. I’m so inspired by the Earthshot community, and I can’t wait to be part of an evening that celebrates creativity, human ingenuity, and artistry in all its different forms," Billy said in a statement.
