From math struggles to patience, find out what Kate and William have previously said about homeschooling...
William revealed that he and Kate are good at tag teaming. “Basically we’re a good sort of team tag session where I come in and have a chat with the children and try to get them to do stuff, and then hand over to Catherine when frankly everything has gone wrong,” the Duke admitted on BBC Radio 5 Live’s That Peter Crouch Podcast.

“George gets very upset because he wants to do all of Charlotte’s projects, like making sort of spider sandwiches is far cooler than literacy work,” Kate shared on ITV’s This Morning in May of 2020.
“The children have got such stamina, I don’t know how honestly. You get to the end of the day, you write down all the list of things you’ve done in that day,” the Duchess said in a 2020 interview with BBC. “You sort of pitch a tent, take the tent down again, cook, bake, you get to the end of the day, they’ve had a lovely time. But it is amazing how much you can cram into one day, that’s for sure.”
The future King struggled with math at home. “I have to admit, I’m a bit embarrassed about my maths knowledge,” William confessed (via Page Six) on BBC Radio 5 Live’s That Peter Crouch Podcast. “I can’t do Year 2 maths.”
“Homeschooling is fun, isn’t it?” the dad of three said on his documentary Football, Prince William and Our Mental Health. “You start worrying how little you actually know from your school days when you literally can’t do the maths questions at home!”
When asked what he learned from homeschooling on BBC Radio 5 Live’s That Peter Crouch Podcast, the Duke answered, “Probably that my patience is a lot shorter than I thought it was. That’s probably been the biggest eye-opener for me, and that my wife has super patience.”
“Someone gave me some very good advice pre-the holidays to put in some structure,” Kate told BBC (via the Daily Express). “There‘s a pretty strict routine here at home that’s massively helped us all - just having a bit of routine, [a] bit of normality. But it is unusual.”
Prince William breathed a sign of relief following Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s return to school in September of 2020. “I think every parent is breathing a sigh of relief that school has started again,”he said. “Five months – it’s been wonderful, but it’s been a long five months.”
