Forget the Polar Express, it’s all aboard the Royal Train! Prince William and Kate Middleton are traveling across England, Scotland and Wales on board Queen Elizabeth ’s train to pay tribute to the inspiring work of those who have gone above and beyond to support communities amid this challenging year. During their three-day royal train tour, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will meet frontline workers, teachers, mental health professionals, care workers, schoolchildren and young people.
“The Duke and Duchess are very much looking forward to shining a spotlight on the incredible work that has been done across the country throughout this difficult year and to sharing their gratitude on behalf of the nation for all those supporting their local communities ahead of the Christmas holidays,” a spokesperson for Kensington Palace said.

Cardiff, Wales (Dec. 8)
The Duchess looked merry and bright in a red double-breasted Alexander McQueen coat for “Christmas at the Castle”...her first stop of the day in Cardiff.

William and Kate roasted marshmallows while at Cardiff Castle. Touching one, Kate laughed: “I’m going to have that marshmallow on my fingers all day.”
The Duchess revealed that she ordered large marshmallows for her children, George, Charlotte and Louis, for their bonfire night celebrations because small marshmallows normally slip off into the fire. She shared, “I ordered them for the children. There was a bit of a sugar rush.”

The royal couple participated in a Secret Santa exchange with students from Cardiff University. The Duchess gave Gwennan Lewis, 20, from Newport, a Prosecco Pong game.

The second stop of the day was a visit to Bath. At the train station, Prince William and Kate chatted with five-year-old Jasmine Warner, whose brother Otto (left) came out of cancer treatment that same day.

Oh deer! After visiting Edinburgh, the royals stopped in Berwick-Upon-Tweed, where they got an up-close look at reindeer, which according to The Sun, Kensington Palace arranged as a treat for children from Holy Trinity Church of England Primary School.
Rent a Reindeer owner George Richardson said that the booking had been “top secret,” adding, “We got a phone call out of the blue two weeks ago, they asked us to bring a reindeer for the royal visit and we were happy to oblige.”
Berwick-Upon-Tweed
Prince Louis’ parents met with staff and pupils from Holy Trinity Church of England First School. The Duke and Duchess wanted to recognize the invaluable work of teachers, including their efforts to keep schools open for vulnerable children and the children of key workers amid the pandemic.

The fourth stop of the day took the Cambridges to Manchester.

Princess Charlotte’s parents visited FareShare, which is the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors, in Manchester to pay tribute to volunteers and organizations across the UK who have supported vulnerable families this year.
“You are the people that have not only kept our country going but have also helped warm all our hearts by showing us the very best of human nature,” the Duke said.
London\'s Euston Station (Dec. 6)
Prince George’s parents kicked off their royal train tour on Sunday, Dec. 6. The Duke and Duchess left from London’s Euston Station, where they spoke with transport workers who have gone out of their way to help people feel safe and secure throughout this difficult year. William and Kate were also serenaded by Shakin’ Stevens Merry Christmas Everyone.
William told Alero Abbey, TfL area manager for Green Park and Euston: “It’s moments like this when people really appreciate what you do every day. Suddenly we all know what you do and that you do a really good job.”
