Since Princess Leonor was born, she has been in the public eye. And it is because she is the heir to the throne of Spain. Discret and shy, the Princess turns 15 today. These are the first images of Queen Letizia with her husband King Felipe, leaving the Ruber hospital in Madrid after giving birth to Princess Leonor. This was the first public appearance of the current Princess of Asturias, Leonor.

Princess Leonor was baptized in Madrid, in the Palacio de la Zarzuela, on January 14, 2006. It was a familiar and simple ceremony. Her godparents were her paternal grandparents Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofía, the then kings of Spain. She was baptized with the name of Leonor de Todos los Santos.

First vacation in Mallorca

Like every year, the Spanish royal family spends their summers at the Marivent Palace in Mallorca. This was Princess Eleanor‘s first summer on the Balearic island. In the photograph we can see her on the yacht Fortuna, accompanied by her mother, Queen Letizia, and her grandmother, Queen Sofia.

For the first time, Princess Leonor, joins the family outting that takes place every year in the Marivent palace, Mallorca. On April 29, 2007, Sofía de Borbón, Infanta of Spain, Princess Leonor‘s little sister was born. In the photograph we see King Felipe, entering the Ruber Internacional hospital in Madrid, accompanied by his eldest daughter, the Princess of Asturias.

Baptism of the Infanta Sofía

Infanta Sofía was baptized on May 17, 2007 in the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption in Aravaca, Madrid. Her godparents were Konstantin-Assen of Bulgaria, Prince of Vidin, and her maternal grandmother, Paloma Rocasolano. She was baptized with the name of Sofía de Todos los Santos. In the photograph we can see the Infanta Sofía with her parents, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia, and with her grandmother Doña Sofía.

Since she was little, accompanying her father in regattas

This is one of the first photographs of the Princess of Asturias during a regatta. King Felipe is passionate about the sport and on numerous occasions we have seen him competing and having the support of his family in regattas. Also, true to her Spanish and Menorcan style, the Princess has worn the famous Menorcan shoes since she was little.

Her first Christmas card

Here we can see one of the first Christmas cards signed by Princess Leonor. From what calligraphy experts say, her handwriting describes her as a reserved and somewhat shy person.

Her first communion

Dressed in the school uniform, Princess Leonor celebrated her first communion. She was surrounded by her family. It was a very discreet and familiar event attended by 80 people.

After the abdication of King Juan Carlos II on June 2, 2014, Felipe VI became the new King of Spain and Letizia Ortiz the new Queen. Leonor stopped being infanta to become Princess of Asturias.

Delivery of the Golden Fleece

On the occasion of the 50th birthday of King Philip VI, Princess Leonor received the necklace of the Illustrious Order of the Golden Fleece at the Royal Palace of Madrid. This was the first official act of the Princess. At the delivery, the King pronounced the following words: “You must respect others, their ideas and their beliefs ... you will be permanently guided by the Constitution and you will serve Spain with humility and you will make all the concerns, joys, desires and feelings yours of the Spanish ”.
