The first female to be born into the Danish royal family since 1946, Princess Isabella is third in line to the Danish throne, after her father and her older brother, Prince Christian. The first daughter of Australian-born Princess Mary and Prince Frederik , the sporty, fun-loving little lady has brightened up many a balcony wave or royal event with her boisterous charm. As she reaches her teenage years, we take a look back at some of the highlights of her life so far – from attending the 2012 London Olympics to launching a ferry named after her. A Princess Is Born!
Princess Isabella Henrietta Ingrid Margrethe was born at Rigshospitalet (Copenhagen University Hospital) on April 21, 2007 and shares her birthday with
Queen Elizabeth of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
. She was the first girl born into the Danish royal family since the birth of her grand-aunt, Queen Anne-Marie of Greece, in 1946.
Christened at Fredensborg Palace Church
She was christened in July of the same year with older brother Prince Christian overseeing proceedings. Aside from her title of Princess Isabella of Denmark, she is also styled Countess of Monpezat.
Down Under
A trip back to mom’s homeland of Australia in 2008 led to the opportunity of meeting some native species up close and personal at Hobart Zoo, Tasmania.

left Australia for Denmark in December 2001 after meeting Prince Frederik in a pub in Sydney during the Olympic Games the year before.
Quite the little lady
The arrival of little cousin Prince Henrik in 2009 meant the family got suited and booted for his christening. Mom Mary is Henrik’s godmother. We’re loving Prince Christian’s little suit!

Then, in 2011, twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine arrived. Isabella took to her new older sibling role like a duck to water, seen here kissing her little brother’s chubby leg while he rested in the arms of grandmother

Olympic Dream
The little Princess was lucky enough to attend the London Olympics in 2012 with brother Christian. They stayed with their parents on the Royal Yacht Dannebrog during their visit.
First day at school
And then in a blink of an eye, it was time for her to start school. In August 2013 she enrolled at Tranegårdsskolen in Gentofte, the same public school as her older brother.
Daddy’s girl
Sporty and active like all her siblings, Isabella loves to ski and is seen here cuddling up to dad Prince Frederik during their annual skiing holiday in Verbier, Switzerland
A Mother’s Pride
Mom Princess Mary couldn’t conceal her pride during the naming ceremony of a ferry on the Island of Samso which bears Princess Isabella’s name.
