Queen Letizia of Spain is one of the most elegant royals in the world, with a flawless style that often lands her on the top of best dressed lists. Leonor, 14, and her 12-year-old sister Sofia looked super sleek and trendy in dark military-style coats for their official engagement. Wearing their hair loose in a simple style, and they rocked adorable flats – red Mary Jane shoes for Queen Letizia’s eldest daughter and black velvet slippers Sofia completed the look.
Runs in the family
Underneath their dark overcoats, the young princesses wore tailored looks that complemented mom Letizia’s strutured ivory dress. Sofia, right, wore a black and white check dress with a bow at the waist, and older sister Leonor looked equally cute in her red skirt and jacket that matched her Mary Janes.
Dressed like Princesses
Mom Letizia can’t resist tailoring and pleats, and Leonor and Sofia looked absolutely adorable in those styles during the Princess of Asturias’ Awards Ceremony in 2019. It was an important moment for Princess Leonor, the future Queen of Spain, left, as she made her debut with her first public speech. She opted for a beautiful blue dress with floral embroidery, whereas Sofia wore a tweed A-line dress with lace embellishments on the sleeves. Both royals wore metallic ballet pumps to complete their perfect looks.

Although the Spanish royals usually go for blue, cream or softer hues for their outfits, for the Welcome Act of the Prestigious Awards, Leonor and sister Sofia displayed unusual, brightest outfits. The heir to the throne wore a simple white dress with a cute multi-colored coat – a royal style combination that her mom loves – whereas Sofia opted for a fun orange long-sleeved dress that worked well with the hues in her big sister’s outfit. Fans of ballet flats, he royal sisters wore them in nude tones to give their outfits the starring role.
Recreating a classic in blue
Say yes to tailoring! Queen Letizia’s daughters chaneled their inner fashionistas during the the presentation of the activities of the 10th anniversary of the Princesa de Girona Foundation. Leonor looked super pretty in a blue coat dressed inspired in Chanel’s iconic tweed jackets. Sofia matched her sister wearing a chic simple-lined dress displaying two shades of the same color.
The trench coat, a timeless must-have
Queen Letizia made sure her daughters were well-equipped for the rainy weather of Northern Spain, making sure they donned something that’s both practical and stylish – a classic trench! Mom Letizia also wore a trench – navy blue in contrast to the girls’ traditional khaki – as well as elegant but comfy oxford shoes, same as the princesses. Absolutely perfect.
Summer casual
The Spanish princesses visited their grandfather King Juan Carlos at the hospital after he underwent heart surgery in August 2019. For the occasion the royal girls showed a more relaxed style with flowing summer dresses combined with white sneakers – just like mamá!
