Each May we embrace a new season, marked by the full Flower Moon, a name rooted in change and ancient tradition. The Algonquin peoples, according to the Farmer’s Almanac, are credited with naming this full moon, detailing the transformative moment that brings warmer temperatures, growth, and renewal.

Across Native American cultures, different tribes have tied this time of year to what nature is doing around them, including — Budding Moon, Leaf Budding Moon, Egg Laying Moon, Frog Moon, Planting Moon, and Moon of the Shedding Ponies.

When to see the Flower Moon:

This year, the Flower Moon reaches its peak on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 12:56 p.m. ET. While the peak occurs during daylight, you can still catch the moon in its glowing fullness after sunset.

You don’t need any equipment—just a clear night and open sky. That said,  a good telescope or binoculars could help you get a better view.

What the Flower Moon Represents:

The Flower Moon represents a period of change and transformation and the development of a path we have been on, including the results of our previous actions. However, it also brings a new perspective and a positive outlook.

“The Flower Moon represents a time to embrace positive change and flexibility, as well as shift to a more positive perspective on life,"  astrologer Bella Popa told Parade.

"As a result, this is a great time to reflect on how far you’ve come on the path of self-improvement. To reflect on the philosophical side of life and on how you want to continue to grow. This is also a wonderful time to make travel plans and embrace being a free spirit," she added.

How the Flower Moon affects you:

This Full moon will bring a lot of emotion and energy and will help with emotional blockages, making space for much-needed growth in different aspects of your life. “Full moons in astrology are a time of heightened emotion, which is why you can feel very energized and extroverted during them,” Bella added. “They bring things to light and into fruition, therefore helping you see the result of your previous actions."
