An adorable Maltese dog from Brazil received the best news at the age of 10 after a long and intense journey. Ozzy, a sweet pup who is inseparable from his owner, Hanna Ribeiro, started to experience some health struggles in January 2024. Ozzy had his last chemotherapy in April and went on to develop diabetic cataracts, and was unfortunately left blind for the first time in his life.
"This past year we have been on a roller coaster because of your health," Hanna, who is a veterinary student, shared on Instagram in June, giving more details about the treatment he was receiving. "This year you turned 10 years old and we also experienced the most challenging year of all amid so many diagnoses."
© @hannaribeiro94Ozzy started treatment with Dr. Thiago Ferreira, after gradually losing his sight, without understanding what was happening. However, Ozzy got his sight back after undergoing surgery, having the most wholesome reaction after realizing he could see again.
© @hannaribeiro94The clip of Ozzy's reaction was shared online and immediately went viral. Hanna detailed the recovery process and the emotional moments the family experienced. "Ozzynho returned to seeing the world with new eyes," she wrote.
© @hannaribeiro94"In the first few days we barely slept because there were so many eye drops at different times, and so much care, it is a long and delicate post-operative period and we are taking care of our most precious asset with all the zeal he deserves," Hanna shared on social media.
"Ozzynho is such a strong bull and has the most loving parents in the world, you have and will always have the best in life, my love," she added, sharing her appreciation for the doctor and the ophthalmology clinic. "Thiago, thank you for taking care of our love, you are a brilliant human being!"
