2024 is nearly over, and it’s been a rollercoaster year full of highs and lows. As some people wonder if 2025 will finally bring a smoother ride, creating a vision board is a great way to set intentions for the new year. If 2024 has been a smooth sailing journey, then a vision board can help you stay on track and keep the momentum going. It’s the perfect activity to do solo or with friends, all while manifesting your best year yet. Cheers to 2025 - Let's get artsy.
Materials:
- Canvas: A large board (poster board, magnetic board, leftover cardboard, corkboard)
- Magazine
- Printed images or clip art
- Photographs
- Scissors
- Depending on what you chose for your canvas: Glue (gluestick works best for magazines/paper), push pins, or tape
- Optional: Markers, pens, gems, beads, personal items (quotes, ticket stubs, stickers)
Steps to make your vision board:
1. Set Clear Goals
Reflect, meditate, and envision what you want to achieve in 2025. Picture yourself completing these things, it’s already happened. Focus on what you want, not what you want to avoid. Here are some things you can think about:
- Career/Professional
- Health/Fitness
- Relationships
- Personal Growth
- Finances
- Travel/Adventure
- Creativity/Hobbies
2. Gather your collage pieces
Look through magazines or the internet to find photos, visuals, motivational quotes, or words and phrases that resonate with and inspire you. Cut or print them out until you think you have enough images. Searching and cutting are part of the fun, so take your time. If you're someone who doesn't like white spaces, you can cut larger, colorful images to use later to cut to size and fill in the holes.
3. Create a Layout
If you love to keep things organized, you can divide your goals into categories or just free range on the board and let your hands guide you.
4. Assemble Your Board
- Start gluing, pinning, or taping collage pieces onto your board.
- You can use embellishments like stickers, gems, artwork, or personal affirmations. If you start using hardware like gems, you might need a glue gun.
- If you want to have some fun with editing, you can add some photos of yourself achieving these goals or put a picture of you in front of the country to visit or the opportunity you want.
5. Seal your collage
If you're making a collage using paper, go over it using Mod Podge to seal everything.
6. Place It Somewhere Visible
- Display your vision board where you’ll see it every day, like above your desk, on your bedroom wall, or in your office.
- Take a photo of it and use it as your wallpaper on your phone to motivate you every day.
7. Celebrate your wins
- Once your visions start coming to fruition, you can mark them as completed and or update your board to reflect new goals or accomplishments.
- Celebrate every win or step that gets you closer.
