A beach body is an aspiration for many especially when beach season starts. Whether you just began a fitness routine or want a bikini body, fitness superstar, Michelle Lewin opens up with HOLA! USA and reveals her essential summer tips to achieve your body goals. However, a beach body comes with dedication, planning and consistency. It’s possible to consume more calories with an at-home lifestyle, especially during quarantine. That’s why avoiding certain habits is essential for body transformation. Michelle recommends complementing your cardio workouts with weight training combined with a balanced diet for ultimate results. Aside from training with her husband, Jimmy Lewin, Michelle has also been invited by Alex Rodriguez and his soon-to-be wife JLo to train together. You can burn those extra calories with small adjustments to your lifestyle and no need for equipment. All you need is a mat and your favorite activewear. Here are Michelle’s favorite summer fitness tips for a toned figure.
Tone your abs
Michelle uses a variation of leg raises to tone her lower abs. The first one is a leg lift with body twists. Lay down flat, and lift your legs and butt off the floor so your feet are over your face. Once up, twist to one side and push your feet towards the ceiling, lower halfway, then repeat on the other side to work your obliques. On your way back down, don’t let your feet touch the ground!
V-Ups: Lay down flat, and lift your legs up 90 degrees while lifting your arms to try and touch your toes. The leg lift will work your lower abs while the crunch at the top will work your upper abs.
Wear a waist belt
Besides working on her abs, Michelle sleeps every night with the One0One waist belt to enhance her natural shape. “I didn’t believe in it either until I started fitness competitions and all the girls, no exceptions, were using a waist belt to mold their waist, so I started incorporating it into my routine and got hooked.”
Vegan diet
Even a fitness pro like Michelle can struggle with finding healthy and tasty food. Currently, she reveals she is in “exploring mode” and discovering what she can eat. “I have essentially become a vegan. It’s really hard for me to find protein sources that really taste good, so the struggle is real.” A healthy diet that includes healthy fats and protein is always recommended by experts.
Include a high-intensity workout
Though many people can’t afford the luxury to go to a gym, Michelle recommends “efficient HIIT full-body workouts like STRONG Nation that help you burn calories and tone up.” STRONG Nation has 20-min, 30-min and 60-min classes available for free online on YouTube with instructors around the globe live streaming.
Opt for online grocery shopping
Aside from preferring a vegan diet, Michelle opts to shop her groceries online. “Online grocery shopping is a great way to stay on track with your goals because you will not be tempted by all the goodies throughout the grocery store.” In addition, she uses household items such as a chair or gallon of water to complete her workouts. “I recommend you complement your cardio workouts with weight training,” adds Michelle.
Sumo squats for glutes
Michelle is a huge fan of squats to keep her glutes toned. “My friends at STRONG Nation made a quick but super challenging 7-minute legs and glutes workout that has it all - lunges, jumps to get your heart rate up, and my personal favorite - sumo squats!”
