SWEAT

This is the personal training app that Kayla Itsines, along with other trainers, recommend. It’s designed for women who want to get in shape effectively. How does it work? The app includes various strength training exercises, challenges, cool-down, recovery and cardio activities that can be done in just 28 minutes. This app, which requires a subscription and is available in eight languages monitors individual progress and gives you the option to participate in fitness challenges along with women all over the world. As the (figurative!) icing on the cake, it even offers healthy recipes.

7 Minute Workout

This app is very well-rounded, especially for those who are looking for short, intense workouts to tone up their bodies. It is based, like its name suggests, on the seven minute exercises featured in the NY Times Magazine, helping you to achieve your fitness goals in just seven months.

It also focuses on high-intensity interval training (HIIT), which is the safest, most effective and efficient method to improve muscular and aerobic fitness.

For any of the 12 routines available, all you need is a chair and a wall, and you can choose to repeat the circuit two or three times, according to the time you set.

Nike Training Club

This app offers 185 free workouts with a step-by-step guide complete with photos and videos. Options range from strength and resistance training to mobility and yoga. The best part is that no two sessions are alike because each has various options that are tailored to different tastes and physical conditions.

It’s compatible with Apple Watch, which will monitor your heart rate and calories.

Caynax HIIT

If you like cardio exercises, be sure to download this free app onto your device. It offers high-intensity interval training with nine to 20-minute sessions and built-in recovery periods.

This type of exercise aims to burn between 40% and 60% more fat than less intense kinds of training, to improve muscle power and help you get those toned abs. You can use this app to do exercises like jumping rope, fartlek, kettlebell, meditation and even yoga among other fitness exercises that use a timer.

Fitbit Coach

You’ll feel like you have a personal trainer at home with this exercise-packed app. The best thing is that it even monitors your sleep! It also monitors your level of hydration, not only when you train, but all day long. Like we said earlier, it also configures sleep goals using a Fitbit monitor to record how long you spend awake, tossing and turning and sleeping peacefully. What could be better? For people with free subscriptions, whether using iOS or Android, it creates personalized objectives for weight, nutrition plans and exercises.

Pocket Yoga

One of the best ways to exercise at home, without a doubt, is by doing yoga, especially if you want to seek peace for both your body and your mind.

This app boasts over 1,500 postures, which are explained step-by-step, shown in photos and classified according to your different needs and objectives. You can choose between the 27 classes that it offers, so there’s something for everyone, whether you’re an advanced practitioner or a total beginner.

If you liked these recommendations, here’s another tidbit for you- according to a study done by the Journal of Sport and Health Science, physical exercise helps support a healthy immune system, so it’s a great alternative! Work out? More like work in!
