Charities you can support during Coronavirus and how to help your community

Nonprofits are raising funds to combat COVID-19 outbreak

Isolation can be difficult during the coronavirus outbreak, especially for those in recovery and have no family to seek support. It is easy to withdraw our altruistic efforts while we are piling our cars with food supplies. Instead of fighting with your neighbor at the supermarket over who is claiming the last box of tissues, focus on the people who need our assistance the most. As COVID-19 keeps wiping out other cities, let's focus our efforts on the elderly, homeless and those who need a little bit of kindness.

Here are eight charities to support the most vulnerable populations while surviving the quarantine life.

National Domestic Workers Alliance

The National Domestic Workers Alliance launched a Coronavirus Care Fund for domestic workers facing hardship as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. This relief fund will provide emergency assistance to nannies, house cleaners and home care workers. A small donation can help the organization reach $4 million for domestic workers.

Dining Bond Initiative

Dining Bond Initiative is assisting restaurant owners to get funds while they remain closed during the COVID-19 outbreak. You can show love and support to your favorite restaurants by purchasing a bond that can be redeemed for face value. For example, a $100 bond for $75 value can help a small business to not shut its doors indefinitely.

World Central Kitchen

World Central Kitchen is another organization making efforts to deliver individually-packaged fresh meals. There are many people in quarantine like ship cruise passengers, that need healthy meals. A monetary amount will assist responders to deliver chef-prepared meals to the most affected areas and communities during a disaster.
