Giving up meat has become the new preferred choice in many celebs' meal plans. While there are critics, there are also many firm believers who are adapting to a meat-less and plant-based lifestyle. Here are 12 celebs who have given their insight on why they’re switching to a vegetarian or vegan diet.

A love for animals was what motivated Ariana Grande to stop eating meat when she was just a little girl. While the singer confessed that she loves animals more than most people, she also said that a vegan diet can improve life expectancy and happiness.

A lifestyle that requires a bit of help

Just like Ariana, actress Olivia Wilde became a vegan at a very young age. In fact, she was only 12-years-old when she adopted this way of life. Olivia admitted to the Huffington Post that being a vegan is “not always easy and accessible” –adding that sometimes a little help is needed to maintain the diet. In addition to making you feel better as a person, the star also said it can make you look better physically.

Actress Kristen Bell simply doesn't like the smell or taste of meat. For this reason, she's been a vegetarian since childhood. But she recently decided to take it a step further and adopted a vegan way of life.

Acne Problems Solved

For the President of the United States on the hit series Scandal, Bellamy Young, being a vegetarian was an absolute must. While you may have seen her eating large quantities of chicken in a certain scene from the show, it was actually cooked from a recipe specially made for her.

Bellamy told PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) that she became a vegan when she was 18-years-old, as she was eating a piece of chicken and it suddenly reminded her of her mother's dog. Along with her decision came an end to her cystic acne and improved digestion, she also felt more energetic.

Longevity Mindset

Although today Miley Cyrus is happy with her decision to cross over to the other side, she became vegan as a result of a traumatic experience. Her dog, a Siberian Husky, died after being violently bitten by a coyote. The actress and singer decided to get a tattoo of her dog on her arm, and stopped eating meat. The Party in the U.S.A. singer, refers to her vegan diet on Instagram, said: "Everything that goes into my body is aliiiiivvvve! To keeeep ME alive!!"

The beautiful actress Michelle Pfeiffer revealed that her secret to maintaining youthful skin are her plant-based eating habits. The famous Catwoman told Urbanette in an interview that by eating a plant-based diet “you avoid a lot of toxins that could age your skin and your body.”

The Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen convinced her husband, Tom Brady , to stop eating meat. And while currently the family isn't completely vegan, 80% of their diet is plant-based and 100% free from gluten and refined sugar. Gisele is a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme, and both she and the American football quarterback of the New England Patriots are committed to eating organic products.

Drew Barrymore has the power to fight like a Charlie’s Angel in defense of animal rights. A vegetarian for decades, the actress had to play a zombie who ate humans, and the easiest way to mimic it was with animal flesh. But Barrymore objected, and all the “meat” she was seen eating on Santa Clarita Diet was gummy bears and pasta.
