The world of tequila might not be the same without Bertha González Nieves‘ vision. She’s made history, earning certification as the first Maestra Tequilera by the Mexican Academy of Tequila Tasters, a title typically awarded to men. Thanks to her entrepreneurial vision and passion for distilled spirits, she leads Casa Dragones, one of Mexico’s most significant tequila houses, where she holds the position of CEO and co-founder.

For over two decades, González Nieves has dedicated herself to the distilled beverage industry, but her true passion has always been tequila. From the moment she saw a field of agave, González Nieves knew her destiny lay inside them.

Now a Maestra Tequilera, she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Business Administration from the Universidad Anáhuac in Mexico City. Proud of her accomplishments, she doesn’t define success by gender but by hard work.

In addition to excelling academically, González Nieves received the Arthur E. Tatham Award for her outstanding performance and promising future in the field of Communication and Marketing. She is also a part of the Executive Board of the Judd Foundation and the Executive Council of the Museum of Food and Drink.
