Female bartender, Barwoman or Barlady are some of the ways of referring to Lynnette Marrero, the woman responsible for switching up the rules and including her name in the field of mixology. Following in the steps of Ada Coleman, a pioneer of cocktail-making, Lynnette is one of the biggest proponents of today’s art behind the bar.

Lynnette’s career began with Julie Reiner, at the Flatiron Lounge of New York, where she discovered her passion for exploring smells, colors, and the flavors of various spirits. She has dedicated her life to mixology ever since; in 2009, Lynnette was named as one of the primary female mixologists by the James Beard Foundation, one of the most important entities for the culinary arts in the United States.

As a defender of inclusion, Lynnette formed Speed Rack with her colleague Ivy Mix. This service is hosted on occasion and is exclusive for women, beginning in 2011, hoping to provide all the necessary tools for those interested in the service industry. Topping it all off, Speed Rack also gathers funds for investigation, education, and prevention of breast cancer. In 2022, Lynnette took her service to her hometown of Puerto Rico, where she celebrated a new year of Speed Rack with great success.

Lynnette has been recognized as one of the most innovative women in foods and drinks on Fortune Food and Wine. Her hard work and dedication for over a decade has paid off, with her occupying one of the most visible spaces for women mixologists. Recently, she partnered up with Jennifer Lopez for DeLola, the actress’ line of artisanal spritzes. Marrero was responsible for designing the smells and flavors of the drinks, which are also low-calorie and made out of natural products.
