América González is inspiring a new generation of Latina models, showing how her effort, perseverance, and support of her family is helping her make her dreams come true in the fashion industry.
This 26-year-old Venezuelan model has graced international runways, walking in more than 30 shows, including some of the most important brands in the world, such as Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors, Prada, Fendi, Versace, Dior and more.
But apart from her incredible beauty and charisma, it has been her family accompanying her in her modeling journey. América was pursuing a career in medicine, when her sister encouraged her to attend a casting call in Caracas, Venezuela in 2018.
América put a pause on her career as a doctor, which their family thought was a bad idea at the time, however she started a fundraiser and with the help of her mom and relatives, she was able to fly to Miami and start her modeling career, embarking in a 4-year adventure.
“It wasn’t easy, but without their help, I simply wouldn’t be here today,” the model says, revealing that her hard work has gotten her far, but at times she feels extremely tired. “I’ll be completely honest, sometimes I’m so exhausted I just zone out,” América explained.
From Venezuela to Milan, the successful model recently walked at the Musée d’Orsay for Prada, and has confessed that her first time walking for Dior, felt like something she “didn’t think was possible.” The talented model said:
“What you put into things is what you get out of them”
“When you haven’t accomplished something yet, it’s easy to look from the outside in and self deprecate,” she admitted, explaining that she believes in the power of manifestation, as she continues to take over the runways all over the world.
