Brewster is an actress and model born in Panama City, Panama that started her career in the entertainment industry as a young girl. Born the oldest of two daughters in 1980 to a swimsuit model from Brazil named Maria, and an investment banker named Alden, she got a small part as a child dancer in the 1988 Brazilian kids series Xuxa Against Evil. She left Brazil at the age of 10 and moved to New York City where she went to college and pursued acting.
As a young actress, she starred in one episode of All My Children in 1995 before going on to star in over 100 episodes of As the World Turns. Brewster made her film debut in Robert Rodriguez’s 1998 horror film The Faculty and her life and career changed forever in 2001 when she was cast as Mia Toretto in The Fast & Furious opposite Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. Following the release of the film, she took a break from acting to finish school and graduated from Yale University in 2003 with a degree in English. She made her return to film immediately after starring in films like D.E.B.S. (2004) Annapolis (2006), and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006).
