Lili Estefan is an incredibly important figure for Latinos based in the United States. As someone who’s been involved with Univision’s programming since the late ’80s, making appearances in important programs like “Sabado Gigante” and “Don Francisco,” it’s easy to forget that Estefan started off her career as a model.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Lili made her way to Miami like many of her countrymen and created a name for herself thanks to her hard work. After her modeling posts alongside Don Francisco, she shone and became a fan favorite, one that Don Francisco praised herself, Lili was offered a hosting position in the show “El Gordo y La Flaca” in 1998. The show has been so successful that it continues to air to this day, combining news, gossip, interviews with musicians, actors, and other celebrities, and more.

It’s a time-consuming show, one that involves hard work and that lasts 60 minutes per episode, airing on weekdays. “El Gordo y La Flaca” is a mainstay in many Latinos’ homes, airing in Univision and being subsidized to channels like Las Estrellas. It’s the most successful celebrity-oriented Spanish-speaking show ever, thanks to Lili’s work and her chemistry with her costar Raul De Molina.
