The hair accessory that everyone loved in the 1990s has returned and is cooler than ever. We're seeing hairpins and barrettes – embellished with pearls and gems, in bold gold finishes and emblazoned with word messages or designer logos – pretty much everywhere. They've been spotted on the runway at fashion week, and rocked by influencers showing off their street style and of course adorning celebrity hairstyles on the red carpet.

Does Ashley Graham need to spell it out? The model made it clear that she can't resist a good Gucci accessory by wearing two Crystal Single Gucci barrettes ($400 each) on the red carpet. She combined them with an XL ponytail, bows, and ribbons.

Camila Coelho clearly adores Dior! She rocked an oversized barrette emblazoned with the French fashion house's name along with another '90s comeback accessory – a choker – and a spaghetti-strap dress worn over a mesh shirt, another retro look that is hot again.

Ariana Grande can't resist the "barrettes effect" either. The songstress chose a simple design, diamante snap hair clips, to add some flair to her signature high ponytail.
