Benny Blanco is known for being a hitmaker, but the music producer is also incredibly talented when it comes to throwing down in the kitchen. The artist has shared many of his signature recipes in the past and even has a cookbook. His biggest fan—both in music and in his cooking—is, of course, his soon-to-be wife, Selena Gomez. The duo has a music video for their new single "Sunset Blvd" dropping tonight, and ahead of the release, he shared one of his delicious recipes for a Philly cheesesteak puff on TikTok. "Guys, sometimes you need to make your girl some homemade Hot Pockets," he says at the start of the video. Here's how to make it.
Ingredients
- ½ pound thinly sliced steak
- ½ cup sliced onions
- ¼ cup chopped pickles
- ¼ cup chopped hot peppers
- 4 slices American cheese
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1 sheet pastry dough
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon oil (for cooking)
Instructions
- Cook the steak: Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add the oil. Once hot, add the thinly sliced steak, season with salt and pepper, and cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned.
- Sauté the onions: Remove the steak and set it aside. In the same pan, add the sliced onions and cook for 2-3 minutes until soft and slightly caramelized.
- Combine ingredients: Chop the cooked steak into smaller pieces and return it to the pan with the onions. Stir in the chopped pickles and hot peppers.
- Melt the cheese: Lay the slices of American cheese on top of the mixture. Let it melt over low heat for about 1-2 minutes, then stir everything together. Add ketchup and mustard and mix well. Remove from heat.
- Prepare the pastry: Roll out the pastry dough and cut it into rectangles. Place a spoonful of the filling onto one side of each rectangle.
- Seal the puffs: Fold the pastry over the filling, crimp the edges together with a fork to seal, and brush the top with an egg wash.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the puffs on a lined baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve: Let them cool slightly before enjoying!
