Celebrate National Paloma Day: How to prepare Mexico’s National Drink

National Paloma Days is among us, and to get a head start on the celebration, we decided to put together a list of delicious drinks, so you can learn how to prepare Mexico’s National Drink, just in time for the weekend.

From the Paloma Rosada, to the Paloma Negra and the Venetian Paloma, here are some delectable recipes you can prepare to celebrate on May 22 with your friends and family.

Paloma Rosada

  • 1 1/2 parts Milagro Reposado
  • 1/2 part fresh lime juice
  • 4 parts pink grapefruit soda
  • 3 pink grapefruit segments
  • Kosher salt

Method: Pour all ingredients into a highball glass over ice and stir. Garnish with speared pink grapefruit segments and half kosher salt rim.

Pink Tiger Cocktail

  • 1.5 oz Ojo de Tigre Mezcal
  • .5 oz Lime Juice
  • 4 oz Fever Tree Sparkling Pink Grapefruit

Method: Build all ingredients over ice in a highball glass and stir to mix. Garnish with grapefruit slice or lime wheel.

Paloma Negra

  • 1 oz Mr Black
  • 1 oz Mezcal or Tequila
  • 1 oz Pink Grapefruit
  • Top with Soda

Method: Salt rim the glass and combine ingredients in a glass over ice. Top with soda. Garnish with a grapefruit wedge.

Paloma Select

  • 1 1/2 parts Milagro Select Silver
  • 1/2 part agave nectar
  • 1 part pink grapefruit juice
  • 1/2 parts fresh lime juice
  • 3 parts sparkling water
  • 1 pink grapefruit wedge

Method: Pour all ingredients, except sparkling water, into a Boston shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a highball glass with fresh ice. Top with sparkling water. Garnish with speared grapefruit wedge.

Citrus Frizz

  • 1.5 oz Tesoro tequila
  • 1 oz Citrus syrup
  • 0.5 oz Lime juice
  • Topo Chico

Method: Pour tequila, citrus syrup and lime juice into cocktail shaker, shake, and strain into salted rim doubles rock glass. Top with Topo Chico.

Paloma Tequileño

  • 2 oz El Tequileño Reposado
  • 0.5 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • Top with grapefruit soda

Method: Build over ice in a highball, top with grapefruit soda and stir. Garnish with a pink grapefruit slice.

Venetian Paloma

  • 1.5 oz Tequila
  • 2 oz Grapefruit Juice
  • 0.5 oz Select Aperitivo
  • 0.5 oz Simple Syrup
  • 0.25 oz Lime
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Soda Water

Method: Combine all ingredients, except soda water, into a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously until chilled. Strain over ice in a glass, top with soda water, and stir gently. Garnish with a grapefruit slice.

  • 2 oz. Teremana Blanco
  • .25 oz. Lime juice
  • 3 oz. Grapefruit juice Add ice and top with Soda
  • Pinch of Salt

Method: Build in glass and garnish
