Victoria and David Beckham’s matching leather looks from the 90s are just one of their many iconic moments that perfectly encapsulate the bold style choices of the era and their special time as a rising couple in the entertainment industry.

Just before their 1999 wedding ceremony, the pair attended a Versace event in London wearing all-black matching looks. The fashion designer looked back at their ensembles during an interview with Vogue, and revealed that it's one of the momenta that still "haunts" her "like you wouldn’t believe."

Meanwhile, David said that the matching leather looks felt “right at the time” but they were “not his idea." The looks consisted of zip-up leather jackets, featuring a wrap-around popper collar, and matching black trousers.

Despite it being a Versace event, their outfits were from Gucci's spring/summer 1999 collection. “The bizarre thing was it was a Versace event, but we turned up wearing matching Gucci leather,” Victoria said to the publication. “I think it was relevant at the time… I think so. Maybe it was just as funny back then; I just didn’t know about it.”

The soccer star said he had an idea at the time that he thought would have been perfect for their matching looks. However, he is glad they didn't do it. “Actually it could have been a lot worse that evening," he confessed.

"We were walking out the door and I was like, ‘Why don’t we arrive on a motorbike?’” he told Vogue, adding that looking back he would have regretted it. “Obviously back then it felt like a good idea, but now talking about it, it would have been absolutely ridiculous. I’m not saying I regret them because at the time they felt right, but now I’m not so sure.”

The celebrity couple continues to go strong in their relationship and constantly poke fun at their iconic moments. While some of them could be questionable for the pair now, other ensembles are still making an impact in fashion, especially for new generations that look up to the fan-favorite couple.
