“Wednesday” actress and our favorite goth-style Latina queen, Jenna Ortega, has been chosen as the new face for Dior’s Gris Dior fragrance, the French luxury brand’s most popular perfume from its La Collection Priveé Christian Dior line.

On its social media, Dior welcomed Jenna Ortega to the Gris Dior Collective and proclaimed that the 20-year-old’s character encapsulated and reflected the perfume’s energy and brand’s essence of elegance and empowerment.

Jenna not only looked amazing, but she also is an excellent representation of Hollywood’s new daring and diverse generation of talent. In an interview with Vogue Spain, Jenna was asked if she likes to take risks. She responded, “I love taking risks. I take it as a challenge, and I am very competitive with myself. Challenges make you get to know yourself more, and I am very curious about who I am becoming. Many of the experiences that I have enjoyed the most have arisen from spontaneous decisions that I have dared to carry out, and I am always glad that I followed through.”

For the campaign video focusing on Jenna, she is seen lying in a pile of petals and delivering a powerful message about the nature of life. She says: “My name is Jenna Ortega and I’ll say that again. Truth or Dare. Life is just a game.”

Jenna’s style

She wore dark grays and purple hues consistent with her latest fashion and of course with the look of her iconic goth-intense Netflix role of Wednesday Addams. Her outfit included a cropped silk top, a stunning rhinestone-encrusted metallic mesh skirt and peep-toe platform pumps.

Her sweet look

She also had a dark color manicure, a fresh makeup look with smokey eyes and her hair was tied back in a loose ponytail with her bangs fringes framing her face. However, despite the dark and gray colors in the shoot, Jenna conveys a strong yet sweet vibe.

As a matter of fact, the star was quoted saying, “The scent of Gris Dior makes me feel confident. It’s one of my favorite steps while getting ready. As soon as I put it on, I feel the urge to go participate in life and hug people.

The gorgeous Lavender-gray colored campaign, filmed by Bardia Zeinalli and photographed by Mikael Jansson, included other young celebrities who embodied the fragrance’s personality. In addition to Ortega, the brand also tapped Maya Hawke, Joseph Quinn, Thuso Mbedu, Fai Khadra, Liu Yu Xin and Oreselan to represent Gris Dior.

The brand described it on its website: “A collective of artists presents a palette of strong, assertive, daring personalities. Made up of comedians, actors, singers, models, trendsetters and the like, they dare to reveal their most mysterious and unexpected side with Gris Dior, turning the fragrance into an olfactory backdrop that highlights the facets of their personality.”

The perfume

Perfumer François Demachy developed the signature scent, Gris Dior, which debuted in 2017. The fragrance was initially known as Gris Montaigne in 2013 and was inspired by Christian Dior’s love for the iconic gray hues.

In the words of Demachy, “What if the Dior gray were a fragrance? This emphatic gray is not merely a mix of black and white, but the result of a chromatic blend. This profusion of colors inspired a composition that melds Jasmine and Bergamot with notes of humid undergrowth. Colour is transformed into an emblematic fragrance.”

The Grey Zone

As part of the campaign launch, Dior also created “The Grey Zone,” a pop-up gallery in Los Angeles where artists Ben Johnston, Andrés Reisinger, Thomas Trum, Mileece, and Collectif Scale reimagined the signature scent through artwork installations.
