Back in November 2017, Meghan Markle first came into the wider public eye with the announcement of her engagement to Prince Harry . Since then, she’s been wowing us with her great sense of style. We know she loves Victoria Beckham’s designs and that on more than one occasion she’s sported Gabriela Hearst handbags, but what other brands does she keep in her closet?
She often gives visibility to newer brands, and sometimes opts for luxury labels, especially if sales will benefit a good cause and the brand works in an environmentally-conscious way. Regardless of what she wears, she has a great deal of fashion influence and many of the garments she wears sell out quickly. Here we have a look at some of her favorite brands:
Aquazzura
This brand’s shoes, which blend comfort and glamor, are undoubtedly her favorites, especially in nude shades. Markle is a fan of the pair with the ankle strap that she wore to Sydney in 2018 and the Purist pumps she matched with the two-tone outfit she wore to Commonwealth Day in March 2020.
She also sports black shoes by the brand, like the Rendez Vous stiletto mules with gold bands on the upper part that she wore to the Endeavour Fund Awards. She also loves shoes with ties at the back and embellishments. In fact, she wore a pair of this brand’s shoes on the day her engagement was announced. The founder, Edgardo Osorio, designed a custom pair for her wedding day, which she wore with her second dress.
Burberry
Burberry is another of her favorite brands. When she visited Reprezent Radio with Harry in 2018, she sported a pair of flared Wyhill pants. However, her favorite pieces by this British brand established in 1856 are their coats. This was the case even before she became a duchess. The Maythorne trench she wore to Pillars and the double-breasted wool tartan coat she wore as a homage to Scotland are just a few that she has worn over the years.
Carolina Herrera
Meghan also loves designs by Carolina Herrera , who has dressed other high-profile women including Jackie Onassis and Michelle Obama . In 2018, the Duchess of Sussex bent royal protocol rules by wearing a pale pink off-the-shoulder dress by the Venezuelan designer.
She wore a Carolina Herrera denim mini dress to the Handa Polo Cup that year, and on her trip to Morocco in February 2019, she rocked a printed blue silk-chiffon gown while eight months pregnant. Other items she’s worn by this designer include her clutches and handbags, such as the Matryoshka Locked L Large Shoulder Bag, which she wore in New York and to a Wimbledon match.
Givenchy
This is undoubtedly one of Meghan’s very favorites. She’s worn many different outfits by this French fashion house established in 1952 by Hubert de Givenchy. In fact, her wedding dress was designed by the firm’s creative director, Claire Waight Keller and so was the black outfit comprised of a double-breasted blazer and tapered trousers she wore on a visit to Ireland with her husband in 2018.
She also wore the brand to the Endeavour Fund Awards, at the Trooping the Colour parade during her first official appearance after giving birth to Archie and shades by the brand to protect her eyes from the sun at King Power Charity Polo Day.

Stella McCartney
Meghan trusted this British designer, who works with recycled materials and is a known advocate for animal rights, to design her second wedding dress . They’ve been close ever since.
The star has worn her items on several occasions, including to Queen Elizabeth’s 92nd birthday party in 2018, which she attended in a navy blue cape dress. She recycled the dress one year later at the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games. And at her visit to Cardiff Castle in 2018, she wore a belted black coat by the designer.
J.Crew
This brand has been present in Meghan’s life since even before she entered the royal family. She had worn it on a number occasions in the past, so items from this brand have a big presence in her closet.
The first of these pieces to catch the world’s attention was the navy blue coat she wore to Birmingham in March 2018. Since then, she has been seen wearing a plethora of J.Crew designs. From a khaki military jacket with a Breton top that she wore to a private dinner with women leaders in South Africa, to black ankle boots to match her skinny jeans and gray blazer at the airport in Dubbo, Australia, and the super versatile shirt dress she wore at Wimbledon in 2019.
Oscar de la Renta
Her wardrobe includes the draped blouse with asymmetrical peplum that she wore to the Coach Core Awards in 2018, that is an Oscar de la Renta classic. The Duchess has also worn the late designer’s pieces to Princess Diana ’s niece’s wedding and at the Australian Geographic Society Awards two years ago.
Veronica Beard
Meghan adored the practical and comfortable designs by this designer even before she wore that blue Cary shirt dress in 2018 while on a tour of the Commonwealth and again on tour in Africa in 2019. In July 2016, while she was still starring in Suits, the American actress wore a striped short suit and one month earlier she wore a similar number in gray. On her first official trip to Scotland with Prince Harry, she wore the Adley pants with imitation pearl buttons.
Given the greater flexibility of the fashion protocol in the new chapter Meghan is embarking on, we’ll likely see many more looks from her favorite brands combined with trends from new brands she’s sure to surprise us with her outfit choices. In the meantime, we’ll continue to admire her eclectic and elegant taste that has been inspiring us since she first captured the world’s attention.
