Queen Elizabeth is planning on celebrating her milestone birthday next year in style! Her Majesty will celebrate the launch of her 10th decade with the largest-ever public exhibition of her personal possesions: a exhibition called "Fashioning a Reign: 90 Years of Style from The Queen's Wardrobe", which will open in Great Britain this April.

Queen Elizabeth, who was born on April 21, 1926, will put over 150 of her favorite outfits on display for royal enthusiasts and fashionistas, to admire. The exhibit will feature treasured pieces from her childhood to the present day, including ceremonial and military attire, as well as ensembles worn to family celebrations over the years. The Queen's wedding to Prince Philip, her coronation and her many official state visits will also be represented, although it has not been revealed which exact pieces will go on display.
The collection will be showcased in three separate exhibitions, with the first launching at the Queen's Scottish residence, the Palace of Holyroodhouse, in Edinburgh. The second will go on display as part of the annual summer opening of the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace in August 2016, and the final exhibit will take place at Windsor Castle in September.

The Royal Collection Trust has confirmed that the contents of each exhibition will be selected to match the venue in which they are hosted. While the display in Edinburgh will include traditional tartan outfits sported by Her Majesty, Windsor Castle will house items including childhood costumes worn by then Princess Elizabeth.
Meanwhile the display at Buckingham Palace will "show the unique requirements of royal couture", with a mix of historical items including iconic designs from famed British designers Sir Norman Hartnell, who was dressmaker to the royal icon starting in the 1940s, and Sir Hardly Amies, who designed for the Queen from the 1950s through his retirment in 1989.

The exhibition is not the only special event planned to mark the Queen's 90th. In July, The Mall in London's St James' Park will be transformed into the biggest street party ever to celebrate Her Majesty's milestone birthday.
