There’s a lot of stuff to stream nowadays. In hopes of helping you watch more good movies and TV, we compile some of the most exciting titles streaming across all platforms in our weekly column, What To Watch.
The Pitt (Max)
If you haven’t seen “The Pitt” yet, you still have time. The show has become one of this year’s hits, quite unexpectedly, starring “ER” alum Noah Wyle as a senior attending working in the emergency shift at a fictional hospital in Pittsburgh. The medical drama has an interesting premise, with each episode covering an hour of the 15-hour shift.
Dying for Sex (FX)
Starring Michelle Williams, the series is based on the podcast of the same name, the series follows a woman who’s diagnosed with breast cancer, taking that as her opening to conclude her 13-year marriage and explore her sexuality.
Pulse (Netflix)
Netflix is also premiering its own medical drama. “Pulse” stars Willa Fitzgerald and follows the lives of an ensemble cast that works in the emergency room in a hospital in Miami.
Lazarus (HBO Max)
Premiering this Sunday on Adult Swim and the following day on Max, “Lazarus” is the new show from anime legend Shinichiro Watanabe, who’s primarily known for the amazing “Cowboy Bebop.” Lazarus is set in 2055, when a miracle drug has been released and consumed by most of the world. The catch is that the world learns that the drug comes with a side effect: killing all users three years after they first took it.
Y2K (Max)
Starring the great Rachel Zegler, “Y2K” is the directorial debut of SNL alum Kyle Mooney and follows three high school boys in 1999, who go to a high school party to welcome the New Year, only to learn that technology crashed once they entered the new millennium, ushering in an apocalypse.
The Royal Tenenbaums (Hulu)
Lastly, Hulu has some of Wes Anderson’s films on streaming. I’ll suggest two of my favorites: “The Royal Tenenbaums,” starring the late Gene Hackman as the patriarch of a family of three gifted kids who grow up to become disillusioned with their lives.
Fantastic Mr. Fox (Hulu)
My other Anderson recommendation is “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” a stop-motion animated film starring the likes of George Clooney, Tilda Swinton, and Meryl Streep, and follows a spree of thefts conducted by Mr. Fox, putting his family’s life and livelihood in danger.
