The Beatles are getting the biopic treatment. While the band has long been the subject of pop culture inspiration, Sony is sharing news of a very unique project: Four films will be released in 2028, with each one centering on a different member of the band.

The project is being helmed by Sam Mendes, who's previously directed films like "American Beauty," Skyfall," and "1917." In an appearance at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Sony announced the actors that will be taking on the roles of the different band members, showcasing some of the most prominent rising talent in Hollywood.

Harris Dickinson, Paul Mescal, Barry Keoughan, and Joseph Quinn will star as John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison, respectively. The casting of a key figure in Beatles' history Yoko Ono has not been announced.

The actors were brought onstage, resulting in plenty of excitement from the audience. Mendes announced that all films will be released on April 2028.

“We’re not just making one film about the Beatles — we’re making four,” said Mendes per The Hollywood Reporter. “Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little more deeply.” He also said that the project is being called the first "binge-able" theatrical experience, where audience members will be able to remain in the same world akin to binging a TV show where all of the episodes are dropped in one evening.

“There hasn’t been an enterprise like this before, and you can’t think about it in traditional releasing terms," said Tom Rothman, the CEO of Sony Pictures Motion Group.

The Beatles films are the first of their kind, with many predicting that they will be a massive box office success. While plot details are currently being maintained under wraps, it's confirmed that the films will have access to The Beatles' entire music catalog.

It's the first film based on the band and its band members that will have access to all of their songs, including "Let It Be," "Yellow Submarine," and more.
