Barbie Ferreira is setting the record straight. After years of speculation about the behind-the-scenes drama surrounding her exit from 'Euphoria' after season two, the actress is speaking out about the rumors, after many thought she had walked off set after creative differences with the creator of the series, Sam Levinson.
The actress, who is preparing for the release of her new movie with John Leguizamo, decided to clarify all speculation during her latest conversation on 'The Viall Files.'
“I never walked off set,” Barbie said on the latest episode of the podcast. “There was never anything like that. That was like a whole thing. I absolutely never did that. You could ask the hundreds of people that were there every day.”
Looking back, Barbie shared that her departure was a mutual decision between her and Sam Levinson. She explained that after reflecting on her character Kat’s storyline, it felt like the right time to part ways.
"It wasn’t just my choice," the actress said. “I think after having a lot of conversation and after season two, there was just nowhere to go. Instead of me lingering around for nine months, it was best for both of us that we just kind of ended it there.”
Her relationship with her character after her departure:
Despite the exit, Barbie has nothing but good things to say about the portrayal of her character and her experience while filming. “Kat means the world to me,” Barbie shared. “I spent so many years pouring everything into her, but you don't wanna ruin a good thing. It was a mutual decision. It was absolutely not just me.”
She continued, “With acting, things happen all the time and you just have to have thick skin and just make the right decisions for you and your career,” she said. “It was hard. I was really young and it was tough, obviously. There was a lot of discourse about it that wasn't true.”
