Pedro Pascal's new romantic comedy has shared its first trailer. "Materialists" stars Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pascal in a love triangle following a matchmaker who doesn't know which guy to pick.

The film is the awaited follow-up for Celine Song, the filmmaker who burst onto the entertainment scene with "Past Lives," a dramatic film trailing two childhood friends over 24 years, with each creating their own lives and reuniting decades later in New York. It came out in 2023, becoming one of the year's most beloved films, earning nominations for best film and best original screenplay at the Oscars.

"Materialists" is also a romance, although it appears to lean more towards comedy. It stars Johnson as a successful matchmaker who's struggling with her own love life.

The trailer shows the moment Johnson meets Pascal, a wealthy and handsome stranger at a wedding. While he seems perfect on paper, Johnson also runs into Evans, a struggling waiter with whom she shares a romantic past.

"Materialists" is rounded out by Zoe Winters, Marin Ireland, Dasha Nekrasova, Louisa Jacobson, and Sawyer Spielberg. You can check out the full trailer below.

More details about the film

"Materialists" is produced by A24 and premieres in theaters this June 13. While the stars have yet to discuss the project, in a previous interview, Pascal revealed that he wanted to work with Song after watching "Past Lives" and becoming a fan of her work.

"It really came down to it being, anything that she may or may not want me to do, I'd be willing to do it as an artist and as a friend," he said to GQ. "Working with that caliber of talent is the goal ultimately, and so I'm the lucky one for sure," he said.
