The Electric State (Netflix)
There's a lot of stuff to watch this weekend. Especially on Netflix, which is premiering a huge movie, a critically acclaimed show, and a new comedy format from John Mulaney. "The Electric State" is the streamer's latest blockbuster, featuring some of Netflix's specialties: Millie Bobby Brown and generous servings of nostalgia. The film follows Brown as an orphaned teenager in search of her brother, with the help of an adorable robot and an eccentric drifter played by Chris Pratt.
Adolescence (Netflix)
"Adolescence" has received great reviews, following a 13-year-old boy accused of murdering a female classmate. Critics have praised the show's format, which is made up of four hour long episodes filmed in the style of a single continuous shot.
Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney (Netflix)
John Mulaney's latest Netflix project is his most inventive, titled "Everybody's Live." The comedy series is the first live late-night show on Netflix, airing on every Wednesday live, with viewers able to tune in to episodes following their premiere.
The Parenting (Max)
"The Parenting" follows a successful subgenre of films: Meeting your significant other's parents. The story follows Rohan and Josh, a couple who organize a weekend getaway with their parents in a remote cabin. Upon their arrival, they discover that the cabin is possessed by the spirit of an evil entity.
Long Bright River (Peacock)
"Long Bright River" is a limited series now available on Peacock starring Amanda Seyfried as a police officer looking into the murder of three women.
Evil Dead (Shudder)
"Evil Dead" is a beloved franchise. In 2013, horror fans were pleased to learn that the remake of the same name was actually really good, adding new wrinkles and twists to one of the most famous and successful scary and gory movies of all time.
The Wheel of Time (Prime Video)
"The Wheel of Time," based on the beloved Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson novels has premiered its third season on Prime Video, centering on an ensemble cast of characters in a medieval and magical world where a mystical woman is searching for a prophesized hero.
