Blake Lively is readying for a return to one of her most successful characters. "Another Simple Favor" has released its first trailer, teasing murder, intrigue, backstabbing, and some stunning fashionable looks from Lively.
"Another Simple Favor" is a sequel to "A Simple Favor," the 2018 release that has acquired a powerful following due to its juicy premise and the fun dynamic between its lead stars, Lively and Anna Kendrick.
The trailer teases another encounter between Stephanie Smothers and Emily Nelson, played by Kendrick and Lively respectively. While the previous film ends with the dissolution of Smothers and Nelson's strange friendship, the trailer brings them back to square one, with Nelson dramatically reaching out to Smothers to invite her to her wedding in Italy.
"Will you be my maid of honor?" asks Nelson in the trailer.
Here's what the official film's synopsis says: "Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square.”
Among many noteworthy suits and wide-brimmed hats, Lively also sports a red-stained wedding gown, continuing the tradition of her character's notorious and iconic outfits. You can check out the trailer below.
Lively's highly notorious year
Over the past months, Lively has been dealing with a back-and-forth legal case between herself and Justin Baldoni. The case started late last year, when she filed a lawsuit against him and his company due to sexual harassment.
The case has captured the public's eye and has become a social media phenomenon, drawing comparisons between the Amber Heard and Johnny Depp case from 2022.
Lively hasn't backed down from the spotlight. Earlier this month, she attended the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary celebration alongside her husband, Ryan Reynolds. She'll be premiering "Another Simple Favor" in March, at the SXSW festival where she's expected to make various appearances to support and promote the project.
