On January 28, Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell brought their signature charm to the blue carpet for the highly anticipated premiere of ‘You’re Cordially Invited’ at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York.
Witherspoon turned heads on the blue carpet in a sleek black wool jacket with gold accents, paired effortlessly with a chic Louis Vuitton bolero skirt. Chatting with HOLA! USA alongside Ferrell, she reflected on the long-awaited collaboration, two decades after their first meeting on SNL.“
Yeah, we did ‘Saturday Night Live’ together. Reese came and was a wonderful host, and I just stayed out of her way,” said Ferrell.“I was different than… People knew to stay out of my way,” Witherspoon laughed.
“We’re so thankful that we teamed up, or well, team up again, I don’t know… Just to get to do this together was incredible. And not only did we have a great time, but it turned out so good. And it’s so funny, I think it’s a movie that people need right now,” added Ferrell.
In their new comedy, Witherspoon plays Margot, a meticulous wedding planner for her sister’s big day, while Ferrell stars as Jim, a well-intentioned but frazzled father of another bride-to-be.
The two soon discover their destination wedding venue has been double-booked, forcing them into a hilarious showdown as they attempt to share the space—cue the chaos and catastrophe.
With weddings being one of life’s biggest milestones, we couldn’t resist asking Witherspoon for her best advice for couples planning their big day.
“Find something about it that’s really meaningful because there’s so much about what you’re wearing and the flowers, the food. But what it’s really about this incredible connection. So, it’s really important to focus on the connection part of it.”
Geraldine Viswanathan, who plays Ferrell’s daughter, Jenni, and arrived at the premiere in a light blue silk dress designed by Victoria Beckham, shared what it was like working with the actor on the comedy.
“He became my real dad. I legally made him my dad. No, just kidding. I love my real dad. It was crazy. I never imagined that Will Ferrell would be playing my father. And now that it’s happened, it makes all the sense in the world.”
Meanwhile, Meredith Hagner, who plays Witherspoon’s sister, Neve, arrived at the premiere wearing an orange gown by Colombian designer Silvia Tcherassi.
She shared what it’s like to have Witherspoon as a sister.“It’s better than what you would dream of. She is the kindest; she’s such an amazing scene partner. She is so talented, but she’s such a cheerleader, and she gave me all these pep talks and was really kind. So, she’s a really good person.”
The star-studded event also featured appearances from the film’s ensemble cast, including Keyla Monterroso Mejía, Rory Scovel, Jack McBrayer, Jimmy Tatro, Celia Weston, and Stony Blyden, alongside director Nicholas Stoller.
