Amanda Kate Shuman is leading the series, serving as writer, producer, and showrunner, with Oliver Hermanus onboard to direct and produce. Shuman is known for her extensive TV work, having written in series like "The Wheel of Time," "Berlin Station," and "The Blacklist." Hermanus most recently directed episodes of "Mary & George," the critically acclaimed series starring Julianne Moore and Nicholas Galitzine

White will play Paul, the lead of the story. According to the novel's description, the story follows Paul's life through his youth until his adulthood, including various settings like Southern Italy, and New England, where he meets various men and women whom he falls in love with and develops enduring relationships.

If the adaptation continues, "Enigma Variations" would become the second Aciman novel to be adapted for the screen. Previously, "Call Me By Your Name" was adapted into an Oscar-winning movie, launching the career of Timothée Chalamet and helping him become one of his generation's key actors.

 More details about White's career

White's career has been on the rise ever since his work in "The Bear," the FX series that has won him two Emmys and three Golden Globes. Since, he's starred in the critically acclaimed film "The Iron Claw," and is currently shooting the biopic "Deliver Me From Nowhere," where he plays Bruce Springsteen

Springsteen has discussed that while it's strange for a movie to be made about his life, White's work has been impressive to witness. "Jeremy is such a terrific actor that you just fall right into it," he said in an appearance on SiriusXM.

"He’s got an interpretation of me that I think the fans will deeply recognize and he’s just done a great job, so I’ve had a lot of fun. I’ve had a lot of fun being on the set when I can get there."
