Mariah Carey has been bringing the holiday spirit across the country with her Christmas Time tour. However, the legendary singer was forced to cancel three shows after suffering health struggles, with fans being left heartbroken and wishing a speedy recovery to the musician.
Mariah canceled her show on December 11, which was set to take place in Pittsburgh at the UBG Paints Arena. The singer explained that she had been struck down by illness before her concert. "Pittsburgh, I am sorry to say, I’ve come down with the flu. It breaks my heart that I unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. I love you all so much," she wrote to her fans.
She was also scheduled to perform on December 13 in Newark at the Prudential Center and December 15 in Belmont Park at the Elmont UBS Arena, but recently canceled both shows as she continues to recover from the illness.
"Newark and Belmont — I wish I had better news but unfortunately I’m still sick and have to cancel the shows tonight and on Sunday," she wrote on social media ahead of the concerts. Mariah revealed she is "really devastated about it" and shared her appreciation for the support of her fans. "Love, MC," she added.
The singer has another date scheduled for December 17 at New York City's Barclays Center, but she has yet to announce if she will be canceling the show. Fans shared their support and wished Mariah a speedy recovery.
"I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. I flew from Houston to see it tonight, I guess I'll be back in Vegas next year for the residency," one person wrote, while someone else commented, "So sad about this… we flew all the way from London for tonight’s show."
"Sad I won’t see you tonight but your health and wellbeing means so much more !! Will miss you for my anniversary but I’ll hopefully see you in Brooklyn next week," another online user added. "So sad but your health is most important. Feel better and see you next year. Merry Christmas MC."
