Ariana Grande and Zoe Saldana lead Oscar predictions for 'Wicked' and 'Emilia Perez'

The two stars could be competing against Isabella Rossellini for 'Conclave,' Saoirse Ronan for 'Blitz,' and Monica Barbaro for 'A Complete Unknown.'

The 2025 Oscar predictions have started following the acclaimed performances of some of the most highly anticipated movies this year. Leading the nominations, Ariana Grande and Zoe Saldana are receiving major Oscar buzz for their roles in 'Wicked' and 'Emilia Perez' respectively. 

Variety has listed the two stars as strong candidates to win. Ariana, who is sharing her excitement for her role as Glinda opposite Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, has been enjoying the promo tour for the movie ahead of the worldwide release this weekend.

Ariana could not only be nominated for Best Supporting Actress but she is also believed to have a strong chance at winning. The outlet highlighted her "charm and wit" to the fan-favorite character and her "bubbly exterior and hidden depth," apart from her rendition of 'Popular' in the movie.

The singer and actress is also receiving praise for her comedic timing and the delivery of her one-liners, making it one of the highlights of the movie.  "Grande's Glinda is both endearing and hilarious, making her a strong contender in an award race that often favors musical talents," the publication reported.

Zoe Saldana would be competing in the same category for her role of Rita in 'Emilia Perez.' The actress talked to HOLA! about her experience on set and the intense preparation for her dance number, which is one of the highlights of the movie. 

"It's by being in Rita's headspace and listening to what Rita is really thinking and what she has to say that sort of energy comes from. It dictates how she's going to move and what she's going to do because everything comes with a precision dictated by her thoughts," she explained to HOLA!
