FIFA is going all out for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. According to Fatma Samoura, FIFA Secretary General, the world will witness a never-seen-before event with exciting moments filled with passion and music. On Sunday, November 20, FIFA will kick off the highly anticipated event with the opening ceremony ahead of the first match between Qatar and Ecuador.

The inaugural show will reportedly welcome Shakira and BTS alongside Trinidad Cardona, Davido, and Aisha, performing the FIFA World Cup theme song ‘’Hayya Hayya.”

Representing Latin America: Shakira

The Colombian singer isn’t new to a FIFA World Cup event. She performed “Hips Don’t Lie” in Germany in 2006 and then brought the house down in South Africa in 2010 with the legendary song, ‘’Waka Waka.‘’ Shakira also performed in Brazil in 2014. Qatar 2022 would be her fourth World Cup.

Representing Asia: BTS

The popular K-Pop band is a music phenomenon, but they have yet to accumulate experience at a sporting event of this magnitude. The band recently launched a sustainability campaign with Hyundai, one of the official sponsors of Qatar 2022, so them performing at the World Cup makes absolute sense.

Correction: The article previously mentioned that Dua Lipa was rumored to participate in the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The singer clarified on her social media that she would not be performing or involved with the event.
