Michaela Jaé Rodriguez is making history at the Golden Globes! The 31-year-old star received the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV drama, following her fan-favorite role as Blanca in the popular FX show ‘Pose.’
The talented actress keeps achieving success in her career, after receiving her first Emmy nomination in summer 2021, and releasing the music video for her debut single ‘Something to Say.’
MJ shared her excitement with her fans and followers on social media, writing, “Wow! You talking about a sickening birthday present! Thank you! This is the door that is going to open the door for many more young talented individuals.”
She continued, “They will see that it is more than possible. They will see that a young Black Latina girl from Newark, New Jersey who had a dream, to change the minds others would WITH LOVE. LOVE WINS. To my young LGBTQAI babies, WE ARE HERE the door is now open now reach the stars!!!!!”
The actress also took a moment to congratulate her fellow nominees Uzo Aduba, Jennifer Aniston, Christine Baranski, and Elisabeth Moss, adding “To the nominees we are Queens. I‘m so happy to share space with you! Each and every last one of you women are phenomenal.”
Fans and friends of MJ were quick to congratulate her for the achievement, including her ‘Pose’ co-star Dyllón Burnside who comments “Congrats my love!!!” and Laverne Cox, writing “Girl you are ny sister but I feel like a proud mama tonight #TransIsBeautiful.”
Following the announcement MJ gave an emotional speech on Instagram Live; “Thank you Golden Globes, this is for the LGBTQAI, Black, Latina, Asian [communities], the many multi beautiful colors of the rainbow around the freakin‘ world.”
“This is not just for me, this is for y‘all. This is the door that opens for y’all. There are going to be so many young talented individuals who are going to be able to trail in and storm in through the door. This is for y‘all,” she declared.
