Adam Driver and Lady Gaga star in the movie “House of Gucci,” to be released this November 24th.
Directed by Ridley Scott, the film is based on the book “The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour and Greed.” It tracks the downfall of the Gucci family fashion dynasty and the notorious assassination of Maurizio Gucci, who’s played by Driver.
The film is exciting for many reasons, with one of them being the return of Lady Gaga to the big screen. A couple of years ago, Gaga earned many nominations and accolades for her performance in “A Star is Born.” Here, she’s playing the role of Patrizia Reggiani, Maurizio’s ex-wife who was tried and convicted for orchestrating his murder after he left her for a younger woman.
The film also stars Al Pacino, Jared Leto, Salma Hayek, and Jeremy Irons, all sporting thick Italian accents.
The film is expected to sweep come awards season, particularly for acting, make-up and the costume categories. While the costumes and wigs make all actors look significantly different, Jared Leto looks unrecognizable thanks to a fake receding hairline and the facial prosthetics that helped him look like the former vice president of Gucci, Paolo Gucci.
Maurizio Gucci and Patrizia Reggiani were one of Italy’s most beloved celebrity couples during the 70’s and 80’s, when they were photographed with people like the Kennedys. The scandal of Maurizio’s murder and Patrizia’s involvement in it was shocking for the fashion industry and the world as a whole.
